I
have been involved with computers since 1982. I had a Timex Sinclair 1000 which
had BASIC in ROM but it used a Z80 microprocessor which could be manipulated
with Machine Language (HEX). I learned some BASIC and HEX on this unit. I also
had experience with many other early computers. Some examples are the Commodore
Vic20, 64, 128 and Amiga. Others like Apple IIe, TI-99A, and countless
variations led to my eventual allegiance to IBM compatibles although I dabble in
Mac as well.
The software side is much more complex and I have varying amounts of experience in many operating systems such as BASIC, COBOL, Hex, OS2, Unix and similar distros, AS400, DOS, and of course Windows from 3.1 to 7 including the server OS's, Exchange, and SharePoint.
Needless to say, I have a very diverse and intimate knowledge of computer systems due to decades of designing, building, programming, upgrading, and repairing these devices.
